Privacy Policy

musicLedger

Effective date: July 11, 2026

musicLedger (“the app,” “we,” “us”) is a music collection app created by David Ramer. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using musicLedger you agree to this policy.

The short version: musicLedger has no accounts, no server, no analytics, and no ads. Your music library is read on your device and never leaves it. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal information — we couldn't even if we wanted to, because there is nothing to send it to.

Information the app accesses

Album artwork & track lists (iTunes Search API)

To show album covers and track lists for historical chart albums, the app requests them from Apple's public iTunes Search API. These requests contain only the title and artist of famous chart-topping albums from the app's built-in music-history data — for example, “Rumours Fleetwood Mac.” They never include your personal library contents, your identity, or anything about you beyond the standard network information any web request carries (such as IP address, handled by Apple under Apple's privacy terms).

Built-in music history data

The chart and award information in the app (Billboard #1 albums, Grammy winners) ships inside the app as a bundled dataset compiled from publicly available sources. Browsing it involves no network access.

What we do NOT do

Your choices

You can revoke the app's access to your music library at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Media & Apple Music, and turn notifications off in iOS Settings → Notifications or inside the app. Deleting the app removes all of its data, because all of its data lives on your device.

Children's privacy

musicLedger is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — including children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” above. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
