The Third Thought

Two-minute challenges in the art of persuasion.

What Is the Third Thought?

Every time you speak, people hear two things — and silently draw a third conclusion you never said. Announce a structure review in the same week you cancel the offsite, and your team doesn't hear two facts. They hear "layoffs."

The Third Thought trains leaders to see that conclusion coming: to predict it, question it, and communicate so the right one forms. Each scenario gives you two true facts, asks for the third thought, and then reveals the hidden piece that shows what really happened.

The Games

The Third Thought — predict what your team, your board, or a new hire will conclude from what you say and do.
Read the Room — spot the leap a vendor, a peer, or a direct report wants you to make.
Check the Story — test your evidence before you stake your credibility on it: survivors, self-selection, missing denominators.
Frame the Ask — the same facts, framed for this audience: the CFO, a skeptical team, a risk-averse board.
Say It Straight — persuade without misleading. Pick the message that leaves no false impression.
The GauntletPRO — ten scenarios drawn from every game, no warm-up.
Message Lab — type what you're about to say and who will hear it; Apple Intelligence predicts the conclusion they'll draw and suggests an honest rewrite.

How to Play

Scenario Workshop PRO

Tap the hammer in any game to build your own scenario: two facts, three outcomes, and the one you want your audience to reach. Start from the ideas provided or from a real moment in your week. Apple Intelligence plays the audience and shows the odds of each outcome — so you can see whether your persuasion works before you try it on people. Save it, and it joins the game.

The Psychology Library

Short white papers on the science behind the games: illusory correlation, causal inference, confirmation bias, associative thinking, and self-persuasion — each with references to the original research.

Your Profile

On first launch you can tell the app your name, role, industry, team size, experience, and age range. Every question is optional. Your profile stays on your device and is used to greet you and to set Apple Intelligence's critiques and bonus scenarios in your world. Edit it anytime in Settings.

Settings

Tap the gear on the home screen for sounds, haptics, daily reminders, the occasional rating reminder, your profile, Pro, and Restore Purchase.

Free and Pro

The first ten challenges are free — two in every game — along with the entire Psychology Library and three Message Lab predictions.

The Third Thought Pro is a one-time purchase of $4.99 that unlocks every challenge (including new ones as they're published), The Gauntlet, the Scenario Workshop, unlimited Message Lab, and bonus scenarios written for you. No subscription, no ads.

FAQ

Which devices support Apple Intelligence features?

Message Lab, the Workshop's audience test, AI critiques, and bonus scenarios need iOS 26 on a device with Apple Intelligence turned on (iPhone 15 Pro and later, and iPads with M-series or A17 Pro chips). On other devices every game still works, and critiques come from the built-in coach.

Does Apple Intelligence send my messages anywhere?

No. Everything runs on your device with Apple's on-device model. What you type never leaves your phone.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The scenarios ship with the app. When you're online, the app quietly checks gringogolf.org for new scenarios.

I bought Pro on another device. How do I get it here?

Settings → Restore Purchase, signed in with the same Apple Account.

How do I turn off the sounds or the rating reminder?

Settings → Sounds, and Settings → Occasional rating reminder. Daily reminders are under Notifications.

Is it available in Spanish?

Yes. The app follows your iPhone's language — every screen, scenario, and white paper is translated, and Apple Intelligence answers in Spanish.

Will more scenarios be added?

Yes. New scenarios are published regularly and appear in the app automatically, without an update.
